So far, I have written one stage play that has been produced as part of Lambeth Fringe in London. As well as stage plays, I also write poetry and am currently in the early planning and research phase for a novel. I take a lot of writing inspiration from mythology and historical figures specifically retold by female writers who give these characters more depth and complexities often missed out in the classical tellings. A lot of my writing has a female lead where I aim to do the same; show women for all of the wonderful complexities we have.

Speak Soon? Writing my first stage play
Speak Soon? Is a play (or I prefer a staged conversation) that honours deeply loving relationships between women. I wrote this coming out of completing my acting course wanting to create a piece that was equally funny, heartbreaking and all at once relatable for many women navigating the complexities of adulthood. A lot of the stories told in the piece are based on personal experiences but also stories from countless women who reached out and contributed to my research; to these women I am eternally grateful. The piece is a two-woman cast but showcases voice recordings of other women throughout in the hope of tying in this idea that we all can relate to some part of the play in our own ways. I wrote this piece when I was living at home, unemployed with the summer and a whole lot of uncertainty before me.
Synopsis
Welcome to the world of Evie and Lilah. Who knows if soulmates exist; if they do, they are definitely each other’s. Both women are learning to love themselves again in a society that says they shouldn't.
Differing schedules and life pressures make it difficult for them to catch up, but in this play, you will join these two on their video calls where they get real about dating, work, and the truths of being a woman in her 20s.
